APTA Alaska, in partnership with Alaska Community Physical Therapy Clinic, is looking for assistance with patient care to provide access to all Alaskans to receive physical therapy services. If you are interested in getting involved at any level, please let us know.
Vision Statement: Providing equitable access to physical therapy services for all Alaskans.
Mission Statement: The mission of the Alaska Physical Therapy Community Clinic is to provide quality physical therapy services to all individuals in Alaska, regardless of financial limitations, in order to improve the health and wellness of our Alaska community.
APTA Alaska has a long history of service to our community. In the 1980s and 1990s, efforts were made to provide pro bono physical therapy services to the Anchorage community at the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Clinic. This helps to achieve the vision of APTA Alaska: Transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience for all Alaskans.
The belief in this mission never faded. The APTA Alaska Board of Directors were severely challenged in the Spring of 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic. The Board did our best to focus on positive action that we could provide for our members and the community. We started a sign up to help those in our community, provided practice guidelines and support for practitioners, provided guidelines and education on telemedicine options in the state, and we fought to continue our Chapter community virtually, while social distancing. This included an unprecedented high level of virtual education opportunities at monthly and annual meetings.
Along with that spirit to provide tangible positive change, the concept of the Alaska Physical Therapy Community Clinic came to shape. Pro bono care is the goal, and Alaska is the target, not only the Anchorage community.
APTA Alaska and the Alaska Community Physical Therapy Clinic relies on and appreciates volunteer support from our members to provide patient care and administrative support. We also rely on donations for our financial solvency to pay for insurance and supplies.
The physical clinic in Anchorage is donated by private physical therapy clinics and we have a network of clinics outside of Anchorage who support this mission.
